The heroine’s journey follows the same pattern but can take shape in many forms. In Alien Citizen, the heroine of the story shares her intercultural and multiracial experience from beginning to end. She traverses national, linguistic, and racial borders as the new frontier, always finding herself between margins as she confronts her nomadic and mixed race experiences. Third Culture Kid movies and Third Culture Kid blogs concentrate on the nomadic experience for teens, including the challenges in Third Culture Kid dating and schooling. In her film, Liang takes us through a rollercoaster of experiences as a multiracial multilingual person, a girl growing into womanhood, and a Third Culture Kid and expat.
